En route

Two days and 20,000 steps, we were packed at last with a ten-hour drive ahead – which wouldn’t be so bad, expect we left at 2pm, only to discover a learning curve towing issue less than a mile from home!

We considered stopping along the way for the night only to find nothing was open for the season and a truck stop didn’t seem safe for our young family.

So we drove and drove and drove some more. I put the children to bed in their designated spots. We drove through the inky skies illuminated by a few bright stars leading the way. The smooth black road sprawled ahead with its ghostly white lines marking the passage of time.

At 2am, we arrived, exhausted and anxious for bed. Porter awoke in time for the auto-leveler and slide-out extensions, which he had not seen before but was wildly awed by.

The next morning we woke leisurely. The children snuggled into our bed. We lingered and giggled – even Ollie joined in the fun before we hit the road again.
